ON THE TRACK WITH UPPER MOON RACING
This week we made the time to jump on a call with Upper Moon Racing. On that call, we were able to pick his brain on so many things that we can’t wait to share with you!
Here is the interview!
Q – What Is Your Stable Name?
My stable name is Upper Moon Racing. You can find my stable here.
We currently own 19 horses. To date (9/21/21), we have won over 166 races. In addition, we have placed second 131 times and third 92 times for a total of 389 racings shown.
Q – When Did You Start In Zed?
Ironically, I got into zed run because I saw a YouTube video while searching for NFTS to buy on a Sunday in early 2021!
I never thought that this would end up being the type of NFTs I would invest in, not the art.
After studying about the platform and watching some videos, I decided to buy a z10 Buterin off Opensea to get started. I was early enough to try and buy horses on the drop, but sadly I was not successful due to platform issues.
Afterward, I continued my research and learned to flip horses. After months of doing so, I have the stable I have now! I was fortunate enough to meet Danshan and KC from Arbitrage Racing along the way to guide me in my journey.
My proudest achievement so far is flipping my way up from a z10 genesis to 10 z2 legendary horses. Not only are the horses Nakamoto blood, but they are Rare and Super rare Coats as well!
It just goes to show that if you stick with something and work hard, it will pay off. I will probably keep doing just that until I get my stable to where I want it to be.
Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?
Currently, my primary Focus is breeding.
I only intend to sell good horses since that is what the market wants anyways.
There’s no point in breeding bad horses. It only hurts the game in the long run and frustrates new players looking to get in cheap.
My goal is to to breed the best racers in all of Zed Run, so if you need a good one come find me.
Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?
That is a tricky question. The answer is really a steady increase from 10 hours a week, to 20, to 30. Now, I am at probably more than 40 hours a week.
It is a full-time job taking care of a successful stable. Not only do I have to track all of the breeding, selling, and trading, but I also like to race my horses as you can see by my stable’s win rate.
Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?
My Favorite horse is obviously Bonnie Parker.
She is a beast all around no matter where you put her. She can compete with any horse at any distance without hesitation.
My second favorite has to be Jew Boy Do not worry, I did not name it. I would change the name if I could, but Zed Run does not allow that feature yet.
Jew Boy is such an easy horse and consistent. He just prints Ethereum slowly but consistently from winning so many races.
I am very proud of my horses! It is incredible to see how far I have come from just starting with a single horse.
Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?
That is tough. It depends strongly on your budget and your play style.
Although, if you are trying to build out a stable in the traditional way then buy Females. If you buy females, then you can use the stud farm to build your stable.
Afterward, you can either race the offspring and keep them if they are good or sell them to build up a bigger bank!
This method takes time, but I do not think Zed will be going anywhere soon. You still have time to become a large player in this race.
Q – Who Is Someone In The ZED Community That You Respect And Try To Learn From?
The two people that I mentioned above come to mind.
Danshan and KC from Arbitrage Racing both are unreplaceable to this community. Together, they have helped me immensely in my zed Journey.
They taught me how to race and what to look for in evaluating a horse. I can’t imagine anyone else being a better teacher and friend then they were.
Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?
At first, I assumed that the tool was just another statistic to be considered.
It is kind of like Know Your Horse. I never paid much attention to it, until I wanted to get good at racing.
The same can be said about the Blood Tool. I never paid much attention to it, until I wanted to get good at breeding.
Now, I absolutely love the blood tool. I bought it for breeding. It tells me exactly what I need to know in a blink of an eye.
My advice, never breed without it.
Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?
That is also a tough question.
I would hope, given that it continues to thrive, it would evolve into custom races with big money tournaments.
I would love for it to be Digital Derby like with major sponsors. Easily, they could sell tracks with banners of big company logos on them. It will happen I guarantee it.
Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?
At this stage, there is not too much. Off the top of my head, I would change the fatigue feature that they pushed out recently.
All it does overall is limit user engagement. I would like to have a less oppressive racing environment in general.
Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?
When I started racing, I wanted to win everything, but I ended up losing a lot. After some time, I reached out to Danshan and KC.
They taught me that it is ok to class down your horse and take a hit to the WR short-term. Because, eventually it will come back long-term and with higher ROI.
So, I would tell people to learn to class down your horse and sacrifice the now for better races tomorrow.
Q – Any Last Comments?
In correlation with that I said about Zed in 24 months, we need big sponsors willing to stake out huge pools in big races.
That would pull massive media coverage, and definitely cement Zed as a real deal in the eyes of so many doubters of the NFT space.
Q – How Can People Follow Your Zed Journey Or Contact You?
You can contact me on Twitter at @BonnieParkerZeD.

I am usually in the general Zed Run community chat in the evenings.
