Zed Run Blog Post #5
Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!
Stable Update
- We still have 14 horses in our stable!
While we were making a bunch of purchases, we have recently slowed down. Not due to lack of belief in the project, but simply because we reached our limit that we wanted to put into Zed!
We have also given away 3-4 horses. Those horses would be in our stable, but we promised to do this when we started.
These horses helped bring 4 new people into the Zed eco-system! We just thought of it as giving back to the community that was so welcoming to us when we started!
Giveaway Update
Speaking of giving away horses…
Our giveaway is still live for those still wanting to enter for a free legendary Z7 Finney!
You can go here to enter!
The giveaway ends on the 14th of October, but the winner will have to wait a week or two to receive their horse.
Early in October we went to stud our Nak Z2 to give a horse to someone that we mentioned above and something went wrong.
Coincidentally, that was the same day breeding was messed up on Zed. Out Nak never showed in the stud farm that night.
Frustrated, we went to sleep for the night and woke up to our horse completely studded out at the minimum to random people.
This made us have to postpone giving a new user a horse, and push back our giveaway slightly. Not the cut off date, but the actual date where we give the horse to the winner.
We hope people will understand as we are just trying to help the community out and do our part after all.
Racing Update
We have won 75 races!! In addition we have 90 second place finishes and 56 third place finishes!
Clearly, we have been busy racing to go from 40 wins to 75 in only a few days!
There are a bunch of things we want to cover with racing that we have learned. So the rest of this post is really just going to be a racing blog/overview.
Here is what we want to cover:
- Our stable racing strength
- Mistakes we made racing early on
- Our favorite horse to race
Racing Strength
Ironically, we never planned to race in our stable.
When we broke into Zed, we mainly bought horses with good stats to stud and breed out. It was never our intention to race ironically.
Although, we have found that some of our horses are decently strong racers!
Most notably are Idol Meaning (Z2 Gen Nak) and More Traditional (Z5 Gen Finney).
These two horses can each hold their own at different distances in class 1 which is impressive.
Idol Meaning goes even at 1600m with most horses, pulling a decent amount of flame. Although, we found out that he is even better at 2000m this week. Therefore, we have fully switched to racing him there which has proved much more consistent over all producing more wins.
More Traditional had the same problem. We got him with a record on the 1600m distance, but soon found that he excelled at the 2200m distance. He has won a good amount of races and stands up to some of the toughest horses in C1 thus far.
We are very pleased overall with our stable since racing really was an after thought!
In addition, the most recent add on to our team Anyone? has proven to be a great 1600m racer.
He flamed all the way till C1 and then we threw him into a tough C1 race to test his limits.
Sadly, we did find his limits in C1, but he will stud out for a great price moving forward thanks to his record thus far.
Racing Mistakes
We want to take a minute and review some of our mistakes.
While success and winning is great, we have definitely made plenty of “oops” moments along the way.
In particular, we made the mistake of racing all of our horses straight to C1 thinking they could handle it.
In the past week alone we realized how horrible this idea was and quickly had to forgo some profit to fix it.
One horse in particular, Different Gravey, we had to class back all the way to C3 to be profitable.
Favorite Horse
Our favorite horse is kind of a tie between two.
The first is More Traditional. He is just a strong consistent horse even in class 1.
Really there isn’t much to this horse. You just sign him up and hope he gets in top 3 (which he does over 40% of the time).
The second horse is Major Speed.
This horse is just fun because it races in class 3 at 1200m. Then classes down in class 2 at 2200m almost perfectly.
Really it is just front to back with this horse which makes him super easy to manage.
Social Growth
Our Twitter has continued to grow into October which is awesome!
We have surpassed our goal of 500 followers!
In addition, our email subscriptions on the site has more than doubled in the past month as well!
