ON THE TRACK WITH ARCHIBALD ROYAL FAMILY

Last week we reached out to Archibald Royal Family to get some of their stable secrets! As one of the top stables around, they had a lot to share and were very excited to give back to the community!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Archibald Royal Logo

Our stable name is Archibald Royal Family!

You can find our two main stables here at Archibald Royal Family and Archibald Royal Stable!

Q – What Are Your Stable’s Stats?

Currently, I have around 134 horses across my 2 stables.

At the time of writing (November 2021), my stables have a combined 390 first place finishes, 361 second place finishes, and 356 third place finishes.

In addition, our stable is maintaining above a 11% Win Rate in general!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

I joined Zed in Spring 2021!

I have loved it ever since.

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

I do not know if I have a “proudest achievement” as of yet in terms of racing or breeding.

Although, finding good deals, grinding and helping other people analyze their horses brings me a lot of joy.

People reach out all the time to ask my opinion on one of their horses, and it’s fun taking a look under the hood to come up with a plan. I enjoy doing that with people.

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

All of the above!

You have to be EXTREMELY flexible and versatile in the Zed ecosystem.

For many months, I was making great returns solely off of breeding and selling those offspring.

As the meta continues to change so have I begun to adapt.

Therefore, I am currently focusing on racing, tournaments, and breeding. Hopefully looking to breed the next big thing on the track!

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

Way too many at this point.

I have flexibility with my job (I am on the computer all day), and Zed is easily accessible (you can pop a few quick races on MetaMask app on your phone for example).

In addition to the platform, I am also spending time on twitter and discord (which I do not put on my phone or I could never disconnect).

In general, way too many hours, but I love it! I think it is a big part of the future gaming world!

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

Risk It For The Biscuit

Risk It For The Biscuit

Oh man, that is like asking me to pick which kid is my favorite (and I only have 3 kids).

I really love “Bull Run“, but I am also a huge fan of “Risk It For The Biscuit“.

I love how they both look, and I love their names. Especially how they relate to my real world job that involves U.S. markets.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

Set your expectations. Set your expectations. And set your expectations.

I cannot stress this enough.

I have seen so many people bash the community or rage quit because they come into the game with .2 ETH and expect to be the next great champion.

I am not saying it is impossible. There are tons of bargains and great deals out there, but there is big money in this game with numerous stables that are worth multi-millions of dollars.

This is who you will be competing with and against.

I would also recommend coming up with a plan before you enter into the space. For example, is this a fun hobby, a business, an investment, or all of the above?

If you want to be a good racer, don’t take chances with UU lottery tickets.

Get with one of the stables with a proven record of good breeding, and take a shot at something that has a higher chance of not being a lemon. Or, buy a proven racer that can compete in the lower classes as you learn the game.

You would be surprised how many bigger stables are super friendly for new players especially.

I would love to hook someone up with a solid Legendary horse that will hopefully get them hooked.

Every new player in the ecosystem is good for Zed.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

Oh man, this is SUCH a tough question, because I feel like I learn from and teach tons of people.

We all feed off each other and this helps boost the economy.

I respect Zook and Pony Plug for all their philanthropic work.

I respect Danshan for shaking haters off (which I used to be one) and continuing to build tools for the community.

MJ, ZG, KYH, Zombie, ECS, all the streamers, and tool makers, etc. WAY TO MANY TO NAME. If I left you off then I am sorry.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Zed Run Interviews

Shit, where WON’T Zed be 24 months from today?

I am EXTREMELY BULLISH on this game and the direction it is headed.

As more experience comes aboard and rounds out the staff and development team, I expect nothing but big things. Blockchain gaming, more utility, and PTE is the future.

Lets look at real horse racing for example. It is a mega billion dollar industry, but the majority of players are just handicappers or bettors. It is very hard to own a stable, much less a horse.

This game opens that up to an exponential number of people that could never own real horses.

The sky is the limit with Zed as long as they strive to execute better and better.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

This is also a tough question. I would make tweaks to tons of stuff, although not necessarily big changes.

I think they could do a much better job with platform reporting, and what I mean by this is leaderboards, schedules, financial dashboard, etc.

Maybe take ownership here so the community isn’t responsible for building all this out.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

One secret that applies to Zed, just like the real world, is the famous Warren Buffet special:

“be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful”.

My secret is take advantage of people with weak stomachs and constitution.

People cannot handle it when their stock account is red, and that psychology applies to Zed as well.

I guess I would say it like this. Buy genesis and anything else cheap, based on tomorrow’s prices, not today’s problems.

Q – Any Last Comments?

No, just sit back, hold tight, and get excited for the ride to come!

Q – How Can People Follow Your Zed Journey Or Contact You?

Archibald Royal Family

We are going to continue to post these interviews from the top stables around the community, so make sure to subscribe to not miss your chance at learning their secrets!

We’ll see you on the track!

ON THE TRACK WITH ROID RAGER RACING

Recently, we reached out to our friends over at Roid Rager Racing to get some of their racing secrets! You might not know this, but they have made over 10 ETH in profit as of November 2021!

They were very excited to be apart of stable interviews, and had some awesome responses to our questions!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Roid Rager Racing logo

Our stable name is Roid Rager Racing!

You can find it here for those interested in checking it out!

Q – What Are Your Stable’s Stats?

Currently, I have around 100 horses across 3 stables.

At the time of writing (November 2021), my main racing stable has 1314 first place finishes, 985 second place finishes, and 778 third place finishes.

In addition, our stable is maintaining above a 15% Win Rate with over 10 ETH in total racing profit!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

I joined Zed just before the drop in April 2021.

I was lucky to get in that early, as it really helped me get some great horses.

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

Tough to choose only one achievement to represent my entire stable.

Although if I had to, it would probably be when I was able to qualify 15 horses for the first official ZED Run tournament.

Sadly, that was quickly followed by my lowest point when 14 got eliminated in the first round!

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

Originally, I started by flipping horses on the after market for profit.

Slowly, it then shifted to breeding for a time.

Now my focus is mostly about racing since that is where I am seeing the most success.

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

Way too much!

I probably spend around 60 hours on ZED a week for a conservative estimate.

A lot of that is casually playing and racing while I am doing other things!

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

Wedgie

Again, it is extremely tough to only choose one horse.

If I can only choose one, I’ll go with Wedgie!

He took me a long time to figure out, but I never gave up on him!

He developed into a nicely profitable sprinter and even qualified for the official Zed Run tournament with flames in his Quarter Final.

I have also developed a good friendship with the previous owner which has been a nice bonus!

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

Take your time and learn as much as you can about the strategies of the game.

It is vitally important to be patient right now because it is a long way from a completed product.

And most importantly, have fun along the way!

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

Initially, I watched all the videos by Poseidon and Doofy Racing, who both helped me get started in Zed.

Although, when it comes to playing the game for profit you can’t go past what Arbitrage Racing has been able to achieve.

What I respect most is their ability to identify and value a horse before anyone else.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Zed Run Racing

I believe in Zed Run long term.

I’m hopeful that over the next 24 months the game will be a much more balanced, smoother and become a larger scale product.

We will see regular tournaments, betting on select races, and sponsored races with large prize pools.

Hopefully, the amount of players is in the millions, and there is something for everyone. That is whether you are just playing for fun, or trying to earn a living from it.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

Right now I would love to see something done about how time consuming the process of entering races is.

Not everyone has hours to spend waiting for the right distance and price point to appear in the right class for each of their horses.

Also, there is nothing worse than being stuck in a race waiting for days for it to fill up!

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

A common thing to do is give up too early on a horse. Don’t give up on a horse if it gets no flames and comes last!

It is usually only a sign that it prefers a different distance.

Also, look for these types of horses on Opensea where stables have given up on them too early!

Q – Any Last Comments?

I think most players would agree that the best thing about Zed Run is the community, and I feel the same way.

I’m thrilled to be a part of it, and I’m always thinking about ways I can contribute and help add value to it!

Q – How Can People Follow Your Zed Journey Or Contact You?

Roid Rager Racing

Thanks for reading our interview post of On The Track With Roid Rager Racing!

We are going to continue to post these interviews from the top stables around the community, so make sure to subscribe to not miss your chance at learning their secrets!

We’ll see you on the track!

Who Is Danshan

Welcome back to the Tribe! In this post we are going to discuss one of the most prolific and anonymous figures around Zed RunDanshan!

In this post specifically we are going to dive into several things:

  • Who Is He
  • What Got Him Started
  • His Favorite Thing About Zed
  • His Least favorite thing about Zed
  • Discussion On His Blood Tool
  • Discussion On The Recent StakedNaks Acquisitions
  • Poking At His Fire Branded Stable
  • Tournament Experience
  • Who HE Most Respects In The Community
  • One Thing He Would Change
  • Long-term Vision Of Zed Run

Now sit down and grab your coffee. This is one interview you are not going to want to miss!

Danshan

Danshan

Actual photo of Danshan (Not really but how would you know?)

The Man.

The Myth.

Some might even say – the Legend.

Danshan has been a puzzling, surreal, and prolific figure floating around the Zed space popping in and out of every Tweet you’ve probably ever seen on Zed Run.

While few have gotten close enough to get to know him, we want to take the time to share some our personal experience with him before diving into the interview.

On the surface, Dan has a boisterous attitude with a straight to the point business strategy appeal.

He is not the most poetic figure, nor does his demeanor scream “the traditional hero” in the sense of a good comic book.

Although, Dan does exhibit several traits that separate him far from the average Joe.

In our limited experience with Dan, we have seen that he has a strong aptitude for knowledge, an unearthly drive for progression, and could make the devil cut a deal with his negotiation skills.

Community figures and Zed team staff alike could all take a few lessons from his play book from time to time.  Hopefully, with him at the helm of the third party development sites, he can help steer this figurative Zed ship towards clearer waters.

That’s our take, but lets get into the Danshan interview you are so eager to read about.

The setup for this interview was a simple question and answer basis with the goal of helping people get to know Dan just a little bit better then the usual Twitter storm.

WHO Is Danshan?

I was born in the United States and raised in Portugal.

I currently live in Costa Rica thanks to my job. Although, I have a second home in Arizona.

Currently, I work for a betting exchange partner of a major sportsbook which is what gives me an edge in the Zed space.

What Is Your Stable’s Name?

Obviously, my stable name is Danshan. You can find it here for those interested.

Although, there are a bunch of Danshan spinoff stables that I own for breeding, racing, and testing theories.

What Are Your Stable’s Stats?

At the time of writing, November 2021, I have over 160 horses roughly. It changes every minute and probably will continue to climb into the hundreds over the next several months.

Due to all of my theory testing, I really do not win as often as I would like. So, my win percentage is pretty sub-par around 11%.

In my main stable alone, I have 1345 first place finishes, 1294 second place finishes, and 1109 third place finishes.

What Got You Into Zed?

Originally, I was in a betting slack channel for a few other projects surfing around the NFT space.

One day early in 2021, someone mentioned ZED Run in the channel. Well, the rest is history.

What Is Your favorite thing about Zed?

Honestly odds was the initial attraction. Now it is just a true passion.

The discovery of ability in racing and breeding is the most fascinating part for me.

My other favorite thing about Zed has to be the amazing and brilliant people I have gotten the privilege to meet here.

What Is Your Least favorite thing about Zed?

Currently because of recent changes, my least favorite thing is the new ideals that people are spitting out.

For some reason, people think its all about ROI and grinding pennies on the platform.

I loved when the game was about competing and discovering a great horse.

The whole purpose of having an awesome horse was to gain status and be appreciated by the community.

Now people just find the negative about your horse or look at its ROI. I hate that ideology.

We need to bring back the glamour of good horses and strong stables holding them!

Tell us About Your Blood Tool!

Danshan Blood Tool

How Many Members Are Using The Blood Tool?

We currently have 34 members!

The group is constantly growing and the discussions in the discord are unparalleled in terms of theories and knowledge.

What Started Blood Tool?

The idea really stemmed from my own personal desire to get better at the game.

In the early days, I decided that it was worth my investment of time and money to build my own tools.

Soon after completion, Jack from Good Boy Racing reached out interested in access to some of them. I found out he was even willing to pay for them.

It just kind of blossomed from there!

Future Plans For The Tools?

Eventually, The goal is to have the blood tool group not run solely by me.

Ideally, it will be a group effort and group collaboration dare I say DAO.

I believe in the idea of letting the community decide and manage itself just like the decentralized world.

Are You Proud Of The Tool?

Yes, definitely.

More importantly, I am really proud of how many extremely intellect people find the tools useful. It is truly humbling.

Anything Else?

I think some people secretly view the blood tool as some sort of magic dust or snake oil.

Although, I think its literally the opposite of that. In reality, it simply makes ZED more understandable and relatable by breaking things down.

Tell us about StakedNaks!

StackedNaks

When Did You Hear It Was For Sale?

I read the tweet that it was shutting down just like everyone else.

From the response of the community, I could tell people really liked it. It also seemed to have a high user count, so I reached out to the owner and made him an offer.

He was less concerned with the amount and more concerned with it continuing for the community, great guy.

What Made You Buy It?

I thought it was interesting and had some code that I felt I could benefit from having.

I was low key curious if I could somehow use that data to improve my blood tools. Possibly even make a custom SN extension for the blood tool members.

Future Plans For It?

Right now the only plan is to keep improving the system and let it stay as a free tool for people to use.

Tell us about The Fire Brand

Fire Strike

What Made You Choose It?

When I joined zed it was right before breeding opened in May 2021, and my first bred horse was Fire Strike.

At the time, Fire Strike was a killer was just tearing up C4 and C5, so the “fire” brand was born.

I am honestly thinking of moving away from it now since tons of people are using “fire” like names in lieu of flames getting so popular.

What Is Your Ultimate Goal With Breeding?

My goal with breeding is so different compared to most in the zed world that mainly want to breed that one killer.

I want to breed a consistent steady flow of +EV horses not just one masterpiece.

Tell Us About Your Tournament Experience So Far

Zed Run Horse

How Many Tournaments Have You Done?

I was in 2 tourneys since I got here.

The first was the Zombie tourney which I only entered because it was a breeding tourney.

Clearly, I wanted to test my breeding worth.

How did You Place In Them?

I luckily won the overall for the Zombie tournament in both the combined categories.

The ZED tourney was interesting as well. I had 9 bred horses qualify, 3 advanced and 1 made it to the tunnel final!

I am pretty happy with those results.

Who do you respect most in the Zed community?

I respect so many people in the ZED community it would be hard to list them all.

The short list includes:

  • Upper Moon Racing who is one of my favorite people. I just love the passion for the game he has, and his strong sense of unity for the community.
  • Arbitrage racing for their true commitment to the game and their humbleness in consistent success.
  • Good Boy racing for their willingness to overlook the Danshan hate B.S. and still take me under their wing.
  • Crimson Racing for their constant support and undying devotion to the game.
  • Alhambren Bloodstock for his passion for the game and unwavering desire to be the best.
  • Moulah bros for their constant guidance to me in being a better player and community member.
  • BG for always challenging me and challenging my theories and thoughts with hard cold data.
  • Polka racing is another member I respect so much for their great attitude and winning mentality.

I forgot so many and they will hate me for not mentioning them, but I would be here all day.

That is how many people have been inspiring to me.

What Is One Thing You Would Change About Zed If You Could?

I would definitely make the game fun again,

Currently, it is way too consistent and boring in the current state.

Long Term Vision For Zed Run – Next 2-3 years?

We need flash tourneys unannounced in the future.

Basically, they would just say join now! Then the click here will end in 2 hours. It would be open class races anyone can join.

A race with super special perks like dinner with a famous jockey if you win the race.

Zed could also give out trophy NFTs for a special wins or people could win something like a z7 filly UUU.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I know people are laughing at me, but the game is boring right now.

We need to get back to having fun!

This game is not all grind, its entertainment first and foremost.

How can people reach and follow you?

People can find me on twitter here, or they can visit my StakedNaks website here.

In addition, my discord name is: danshan11.

My DMS are open everywhere and always to everyone!

Danshan Post

Thanks for reading our post on Danshan!

We need more people in the community like Dan that are willing to put their time, money, and efforts fully into Zed Run if it is going to succeed.

Cheers

ON THE TRACK WITH NAPTOWN COLTS

This weekend we were priviledged to get in touch with Naptown Colts! We are super excited to share this post with you guys as it is chalked full with great content and knowledge for Zed Run users to learn from.

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Naptown Colts Logo

Most people will know my first stable, Naptown Colts!

I also have my breeding stable where I keep my studs and u/u horses called End of the Line Farms.

Q – What Are Your Stable’s Stats?

Our stable’s stats are ever-changing, but as of today, (October 28, 2021) our main stable, Naptown Colts, has around 89 horses in it.

In addition, we have placed first 537 times, second 457 times and third 377 times. Currently, my main stable is sitting at a 11.3% win rate!

In addition, End of the Line Farms has 52 horses in it currently with 12 wins, 10 second place finishes, and 4 third place finishes. That stable maintains a 13% win rate.

So, in total we have 141 horses and 549 won races!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

Originally I tried and failed to get a horse in the April Genesis drop.

After that attempt, I decided to buy 2 horses the next week on the after market to get started.

As you can see, I did not stop after just those 2 horses!

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

I hope my proudest achievement is yet to come, but I have a few that stand out.

  • Breeding one of the top exclusives Buterins in the game (Go Golden Go)
  • Getting to 1 ETH profit for Go Golden GO
  • Hitting 100 horses owned
  • Hitting 500 stable wins

While those are all great, I’m really excited for what’s to come like tournament championships & more!

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

My primary goal is winning Zed Races, so all three of those areas are vital.

They are the three sides of the winning triangle and without one, the rest are going to be harder.

I have had good success breeding and have a number of winning horses bred in my stable.

I have also sold many to get the ETH needed to continue a very large breeding operation.

Breeding and racing go hand in hand to support the ultimate goal – developing, buying, and breeding winners on the track.

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

I spend too many hours on Zed!

Honestly, it depends. Typically, I race 3-4 blocks a day (when I wake up, around lunch, around dinner, before bed).

Sometimes this is quick (3-4 races and done), others it’s longer (especially with this tournament, where I raced 50% of my stable at least 5-6 times).

I typically also research & re-rank my horses every few weeks.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

Go golden Go

Your first love is the hardest to get over so Go Golden Go has to be my favorite.

He basically made all this happen & even got his own Twitter feed with fans that can be found here for those looking to follow!

I’ve been able to invest his race winnings into buying, breeding, and growing my stable.

Without him, I might still only have my zero win Genesis Mare (his mom) and my one win Z5 Nakamoto and be out the .7 ETH it cost to buy them.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

There are tons of deals right now!

This is a great time to get into Zed. My advice is to be realistic about your budget and understand your goals.

It sounds fun playing with the big boys in Class 1, but when you get to that level, everything is more expensive & challenging (breeding, racing, winning, placing, etc.)

For those reasons, I like Szabo/Finney combinations & believe that top 20% buterins are going to be wildly ROI positive over the coming months.

Overall, I believe in starting your stable with a nice horse that will be ROI neutral. It is very important that you know the distance preference and how to run them.

Afterward, you can take a chance on an unraced horse that you can figure out on your own with good bloodlines & sibling success.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

There are so many!

Too many to pick from. Honestly it would feel like a disservice to the community to just name one without naming all of them.

In the spirit of community, just follow my Twitter feed and see all the amazing content & creators I retweet daily!

All of them deserve your follow and support!

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Zed Run Stable

On the moon.

I could (and have) spent hours thinking and writing about this. There are so many possibilities and so much to roll out that they don’t even know yet.

I think this is a 1 million daily active users game. Today, it’s around 10K users, so I think they will grow 100x in the next 2 years.

In addition, partnerships and sponsorships will change the game. Think massive stakes races with full coverage.

Honestly, the low end of the boom is real-life horse racing today. I think there will be more races, better onboarding, and tons of ways to play.

I am very bullish and believe this will be the golden example of the NFT boom. Here’s one example of a Twitter thread that I go into detail on what this could look like.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

As much as I love Zed, they still have plenty of room to evolve.

There are many areas that could be improved (onboarding/new user experience, race entry flow, more ways to stand out (skins), more race types, etc.), but I think the area that is holding the platform back today is the class system.

There are so many reasons why, but they all boil down to this – The current system does not help grow the game.

I’m looking forward to how this is fixed and evolved over the next few months.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

It’s not a secret, but it is something you have to think about. Today, the cost of breeding is solely dependent on the male stud.

Therefore, exclusive & elite females stay at that level when bred with any genesis.

Due to this, I’ve been acquiring low Z Naka/Szabo/Finney exclusive/elite females & breeding in-house with Genesis Finney studs.

If you have the right genesis Finney, this can be an excellent way to build some nice bloodlines on a budget.

In the future, if we ever have Finney-only races or tournaments, you have a nice leg up.

Q – Any Last Comments?

One thing I think is so important to remember is where we are in the Zed lifecycle.

Today, there are 32,358 Zed Run horses for sale on Opensea right now.

This past weekend (October 29-31), Zed was promoted during Australia’s biggest horse racing event, the Melbourne Cup.

750 MILLION viewers watch. If .005% (.00005) of 750M want to buy a horse, there would be 5,142 people WHO COULD NOT GET A HORSE.

Do we think 37,500 people who love watching horse racing might want to buy a virtual racehorse next weekend? If I wanted to get in, I’d do it NOW.

ON THE TRACK WITH NARUTO RACING

This week we got in touch with another top stable, Naruto Racing! These guys are lively, fun, and super excited to be apart of the Zed Run community! If you have not already, make sure to check out some of their streams and support their content!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Naruto Racing

We are known as Naruto Racing!

Our stable derivatives (apart of the racing team) include: Naruto Stables | Breeding, Naruto Racing Team, and Naruto Stables.

Q – What Are Your Stable’s Stats?

Currently across all of our stables we have placed first 451 times! In addition, we have place second 528 times and third 551 times.

Over all, we have approximately a 8% win rate across all stables!

We would like to clarify that we have shifted away from doing a racing team approach and have focused more on testing our theories and race strategies with different types of horses in each stable.

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

We all joined at different times, but ultimately ended up with a team of three people.

The first person to join was Dartanian who started Zed in March of 2021. He was mainly trying to get into the early drops that Zed Run was doing around that time.

Meanwhile, Brendino was the second person to join on the team in May 2021.

Finally, Remy joined the team in August of 2021 to create the trio we have today.

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

We unanimously believe our proudest moment in Zed was getting shouted out by MJ Stables on twitch for being one of the best users of MJ stable’s analysis tool.

We have learned to use the site’s various tools for analyzing speeds, distance preference, and overall capacity of evaluating horses

MJ is the GOAT and we stand by that.

Our second proudest moment is working with LJ (Lucky Jack) with all that he does for the community and giving back with giveaways and content.

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

This is a bit of a tricky question.

At first, we were highly focused on racing. We were scooping up 5-10 dollar racers left and right and proving their competitive nature.

Although, as the game has developed with going from unlimited races to around 3-4 per day, we are no longer able to downrank or up-class.

The changes like fatigue, flames, the removal of odds, and what we speculate to be a decrease of variance/increase of consistency with the October 4th stamina update, have now shifted our focused to breeding.

More specifically, breeding and understanding base ability/breeding potential of horses is now our main focus. We are still racing, but if we can breed successful horses, the investment has less risk and exposure.

Overall, breeding great horses is a lot more rewarding.

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

Our combined hours between the three of us and streaming is probably in the 100 hour range.

While that might seem like a lot, we love it!

We eat, sleep, talk, and live Zed Run.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

archangle

Our favorite racing horse has to be Archangel!

We think this is our most exciting horse by far! She is definitely a top 50 sprinter in the game and has flamed over some spectacular horses like Asterism, Song of Ice and Fire, and Shirley Temple.

However, our favorite breeding horse is Finishing School (Genesis Z3 Szabo) because we have realized what a dominant breeder she is and probably one of our oldest horses we’ve kept to date!

Most people probably thought we were gonna say Jet Glue huh?

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

The best advice that we can give to new stable owners is to watch the content creators, learn about the market of Zed, get into the Twitterverse of Zed, and understand the approach you want to take with Zed whether that is a long-term investment (Genesis horses), Breeding, or Competing with races!

The market is probably the lowest we’ve seen since we joined Zed and there are a lot of amazing horses up for sale currently!

One in particular that we saw, Bloons, is only around 1.5 Ethereum. A horse like that would absolutely crush 95% of the competition!

Genesis Mares are selling near .2 and Z2 Legendary Nak Fillies are going for roughly .45-.5 eth which is insane!

Don’t just leap in like we did! Do your research, understand the environment, and execute accordingly!

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

We can’t really narrow it down to just one person.

We’d go with MJ Stables and his stream/twitter/content in regards to speed and placement via his website here.

For breeding, we are very big on the boys at XYZ and absolutely love the content they’ve been putting out. They are brilliant with their analysis on the updates’ impact on the Zed environment/racing.

Danshan gets a close second for our favorite because his theories align a lot with what we have been seeing in regards to breeding!

Lastly, we admire and respect Lucky Jack for all that he does for the community and the boys at Ponyplug!

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Stable Interview Post

In 24 months we think Zed will be dominating the metaverse.

Hopefully it will be the modern day pari-mutuel betting! FULL STOP!

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

We would suggest that Zed focuses more on their DevOps and tweak the bottlenecks that happen with the deployment of their updates.

In addition, they need to optimize their product to market strategy with marketing, communication of changes, and overall roadmap.

We believe that open communicate is not only essential but vital to the life and longevity of a promising product that is still in it’s Beta/Alpha Phase (some argue Alpha because it’s not fundamentally complete with their implementations to game-play).

Let Zed be a game, let the users have some nice feelers for what the future holds, and understand that without a lot of the day one players, content creators, and people shelling their ETH at a game still in its prototypical stages that their money isn’t better kept elsewhere.

ETH is going to the moon and will more than likely break 10k by Spring with Modular scalability and Proof of Stake.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

Other than the fact that we gave out a proven racer with .5 eth profit in 200 races named Bloons that is currently listed for 1.5 eth?

We dropped some people the secret on attempted supercoats in July, but we think breeding is the key to Zed Run.

Amazing Genesis horses that can breed successful offspring and their grandchildren can also perform is a high indicator of what we believe to be “breed ability.”

This breed ability does not depend on whether or not they are a great racer. Our best breeder, Finishing School, has a decent base ability (flames at short distance well into Class 1), however has made very decent off-spring that have produced at 5 and 10 dollar racers!

Lastly, L J D Racing and Jamoeesh are by far the best breeders for their stable size, so if you take a close look at what they’re doing, we think the community can learn a lot about being highly efficient breeders given a smaller stable budget.

Q – Any Last Comments?

We’d like to give a shout out to our homies at SeanvsAll! Everybody should check out their stream. It’s the kind of entertaining content that Zed needs and they do an amazing show with giveaways from themselves and the rest of the community!

Thanks for having us! We are extremely elated to be apart of the Zed Community and looking forward to growing and having a blast with all of the amazing people we’ve met along our journey!

ON THE TRACK WITH CRIMSON RACING

This week we got to speak with a very well known stable, Crimson Racing! They had a ton of Zed knowledge and racing experience to share!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Crimson Racing Logo

My main stable is Crimson Racing, but I also house some horses within Crimson Breeding. In addition, I have 50% ownership of Hidden Valley Ranch.

The stable name came from The Crimson Chin, our best racer and the best sprinter currently in the game.

While we didn’t name her, it was only right for us to pay homage to her by naming our operation after her!

Right now we currently own 48 horses in total.

To date (10/9/21), we have won 490 races. In addition, we have placed second 424 times and third 394 times for a total of 1,308 races shown. We have a 13.61% win rate!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

We came over from NBA Top Shot in late April 2021.

Originally, we heard about Zed from a friend and thought it sounded like a great game to try and pick up. Quickly, we fell in love with it.

Our first purchase was Final Straw, a genesis Z3 colt. We kept him unraced and unbred until more recently.

In April after buying Melanie, our first great racer (super rare super coat Z4 Nak Legendary), we stumbled upon The Crimson Chin and the rest is history!

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

My proudest moment was buying The Crimson Chin within 20 minutes of racing against her back in April!

This horse has exceeded all of my expectations even after we saw how great she was.

When odds were a thing, this horse was untouched in her best distances making her arguably the best horse in the game.

I are not sure where the stable would be today without this horse.

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

My primary focus is racing. Although, I’ve recently become more interested in breeding.

However, any successful breeding I do would be for the purposes of finding new high-end racers.

The focus really remains the same if you think about it. I want to learn to breed great racers to add to my stable so that we can race more!

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

Zed has taken up a surprising amount of my life in the past few months.

Outside of my day job and spending time with my family, it’s definitely been the next biggest use of my free time.

I probably couldn’t put a number on the amount of hours that I spend per week, but just know that it is a substantial amount of my time.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

The Crimson Chin

I’m going to cheat here and list two favorite horses: The Crimson Chin and Terms of Engagement.

The Crimson Chin is the eponym for our stable and has been our crown jewel since April.

She is the best sprinter in the game, having been the favorite (by odds, until they went away) in all 1000M races she has entered.

As of this writing, she has 2 ETH in racing profits, despite a poor record in a small sample size of high value races.

Terms Of Engagement

Terms of Engagement, a Z1, was the first truly expensive horse I purchased, and she continues to exceed all expectations.

To date, she has never come in last place in a race in almost 600 races. A Zed record I can’t ever see being broken.

She is the definition of a “tournament horse”, finishing in the top 3 a whopping 49% of the time!

As a Z1, she is also a coveted and proven breeder, and I imagine she’ll be a huge part of our breeding successes over the coming years.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

My advice for a new stable owner would be to try to find a genesis horse or two if your budget allows.

Genesis horses will be the key to the game in the long run as the populations of horses explodes and the number of genesis horses doesn’t change.

Otherwise, do your homework and look for a fun low class racer to get your feet wet!

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

There are too many to name here, but a few people I am constantly learning from are: Good Boy Racing, Doofy, Arbitrage, and Donkey Teeth, among others.

Obviously DanShan has more recently become a huge help for me with breeding too.

We would like to personally shout out to the knowyourhorses.com crew, Ryan and Tyler, for all they’ve done for the community with their powerful tools.

Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?

I bought the blood tool recently to improve my breeding game.

I had heard good things about it from a few stables I respect, and figured it would hopefully be money well spent.

So far, I’ve definitely learned to appreciate its power and the ability to look at breeding in a more quantitative way.

To summarize, it’s helping me shape a long-term plan around breeding.

It has already become my favorite tool that I use for Zed.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Crimson Racing Facts

In 24 months from today, I see Zed having much more mainstream adoption, primetime races, huge sponsorships, and new race modes!

Although, for Zed to really be successful several things have to go right from a product development standpoint. Ultimately, there are no limits to how big this platform can get.

Ideally, it would follow a similar trajectory to what we’ve seen with poker in the early 2000’s or DFS in the past decade.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

There are many things I think could be changed about Zed, but I also believe those things will get addressed over time.

I’m one to usually give Zed the benefit of the doubt on oversights or mishaps, given how early we are in this game and how people sometimes forget it’s still in beta.

Many have publicized their wish lists for Zed , so I’ll leave people to look through those rather than rehash them here.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

I’m not sure there are many secrets nowadays, but one thing I’d stress especially to new users is not to rely too heavily on flames alone.

Flames can be misleading depending on the type of racer you have, so make sure you use them as just one tool in your tool kit.

Q – Any Last Comments?

I think that just about covers everything we have to say! We appreciate this opportunity to discuss one of our passions – Zed Run!

Q – How Can People Follow Your Zed Journey Or Contact You?

People can follow me on twitter here. You can also contact me on discord at kkirk55#4187!

ON THE TRACK WITH ARBITRAGE RACING

On Friday we got in touch with the kings of the track, Arbitrage Racing! They took the time out of their busy schedule to answer our questions and give us some solid advice on racing that we can’t wait to share!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Arbitrage Racing Logo

Our stable is called Arbitrage Racing! You can find it here.

The stable name actually started with Daily Fantasy Sports which my partner and I played jointly under the name Arbitrage DFS. We figured it could also apply to Zed and in picking a stable name it just stuck.

We currently own 15 horses in total.

To date (10/2/21), we have won 2,096 races. In addition, we have placed second 1,234 times and third 989 times for a total of 4,319 races shown.

We have a 17.26% win rate and have earned over 30 ETH in profit. Currently, we are ranked number one for racing profit in all of Zed!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

We came over from NBA Top Shot in late April 2021.

Originally, we heard about Zed from a friend and thought it sounded like a great game to try and pick up. Quickly, we fell in love with it.

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

Our proudest achievement is becoming the most profitable racing stable in Zed!

We have worked tremendously hard to achieve this goal.

In this coming year, we hope to solidify that claim by making the gap even larger from the second placed stable.

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

Our primary focus is on racing and getting the most out of our horses on the track.

More recently we have invested additional time and efforts into breeding.

With the help of Danshan’s blood tool we are looking to take the next step there as well.

You can be on the look out for some Arbitrage Racing offspring soon!

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

More than I’d like to admit considering I also have a full-time job.

Lately, in the fatigue era its probably down to the 30-40 hours a week range if I am being realistic.

Pre fatigue when you could run and scout horses all day there were times I’d grind out close to 60 hours a week easily.

I hope to get more time on the track soon if Zed decides to cut back on some of the stamina changes.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

LBJ Goat

The favorite horse that I own is LBJ Goat.

That is the horse that really put our stable on the map as one of the best racing stables in the game. It will  always be our first love in this game regardless of what we achieve later on.

The amount of knowledge we have gained and refined racing that horse 2200 times is invaluable. We couldn’t put a price on that horse even if we wanted to.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

Don’t rush into buying your first horse. Take your time and learn the ropes first.

There are tons of great people and resources to learn from that will help you increase your chances that your first purchase will be a profitable one.

If you rush into the game too quickly, you could end up burning through your resources on horses that are not worth much.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

Danshan on the breeding side for sure. With the amount of information and detail he provides within his tool, he is easily our favorite person to go to for breeding questions.

From the racing perspective we’ve always looked up to the original racing grinders.

Aloha Tim from Aloha Racing and Imferno from Catch me Ridin’ Derby are a couple stables we really tried to pattern our racing strategy after. This is once they proved there was a ton of money to be made on the track of course!

Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?

We bought the blood tool because we wanted to expand the scope of our stable outside of just racing.

While there is a ton of great racing resources out there for free, breeding information and databases are much harder to come by.

After first seeing the blood tool from Danshan, I was very impressed with the amount of information he already had from the short period of time breeding had been opened.

I view the purchase as an investment in the future of our stable, and I think the blood tool gives us the best path to being successful breeders.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Arbitrage Racing Interview

I see the game looking very different than what we have today.

I expect there to be a much larger emphasis tournaments, whether it be specialty style tournaments featuring a specific coat color or breed of horse, or a sponsored high dollar Derby.

In addition, I also expect there to be the ability for companies to sponsor horses for these big tournaments.

There has already been some proof of this with the NASCAR partnership, but we expect it to scale to all kind of industries looking to get more exposure through Zed Run.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

I would find a way to let the economic structure of the platform reward the best racers in the game with the most profitability on the track.

In order to do that at the moment you are forced to tank your horse, which while it does take a bit of skill and discovery, it does feel a bit unnatural.

Class 1 needs to be revitalized, and I think it starts with incentivizing the best horses to race there.

The best horses racing in class 1 should then naturally increase in value which will also bolster the market.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

Be one of the last to enter new races whenever possible.

You’d be surprised how many higher dollar races end up looking like low stakes if you study the fields and are patient.

A great tool for new comers to use is the KnowYourHorse platform. Search your desired race and make sure to study your competition!

Q – Any Last Comments?

Nope, we want to personally thank the Sanfrancisco Tribe for putting this together and including us in the stable interview series!

Q – How Can People Follow Your Zed Journey Or Contact You?

ON THE TRACK WITH NEWPORT BEACH STABLES

This week we got together with Newport Beach Stables! They took the time to answer our questions and give some great advice for new stable owners!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Newport Beach Stables Logo

We have three stables all apart of the “Newport Beach” brand.

As you could guess, we were established in Newport Beach and all our horses reside in the Newport meadows.

The racing stable name is Newport Beach Stables.

Our female stable name is Newport Beach Breeding.

Our male stable name is Newport Beach Stallions.

We currently own 123 horses between our three stables.

To date (9/29/21), we have won 481 races. In addition, we have placed second 452 times and third 408 times for a total of 786 races shown.

We have a 11.21% win rate and have earned over 2 ETH in profit.

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

We would like to shout out to Top Shot. We went heavy into Top Shot in early February and saw some tweets about a digital horse racing platform.

Having played the Dave & Buster’s horse racing game growing up, this was something we knew we had to check out.

We were lucky to get a few genesis horses in the March drop and have been addicted ever since!

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

Our proudest achievement in Zed has been reaching a double-digit win percentage.

We started our stable in March and couldn’t even get a free win no matter what we raced!

Eventually, we turned around our stable’s 4% win rate into the 11.21% win rate it is today! We are very proud of that!

On another note, our worst/proudest achievement was breeding Steph Curry and selling him unraced for .075.

We still have both parents and have bred them every cycle since hoping to make another!

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

We are focused on breeding, racing, and selling as you can tell from the three different stables we manage.

We are still in the process of splitting our horses into their respective stable. For instance, we aim to split them by Males, Females, and Racers.

The breeding for profit model is slowly becoming unprofitable due to recent changes in the market. Thus, we are looking at exotic niches to sell unraced foals.

For example: Z11 Legendary or Exclusive Buterins, z7 Legendary Finneys, ect. Basically whatever the market needs we look to provide!

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

We currently spend about 40 hours a week on Zed Run.

As our stable grows, we anticipate that the hours we spend per week will grow as well!

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

speeding bullet

My favorite horse is a Z9 Buterin Genesis: Speeding Bullet.

First of all, the name is extremely fitting. Second of all, this was my best horse early on and earned me the funds to build out my stable.

According to LIR Rankings, he is the 59th best horse in the game!

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

If you’re starting out in Zed, we would recommend having two stables. You’ll want to buy a male and female of the same genotype for those stables.

By having one horse in each stable, you can breed foals for a 54% discount.

This is a cheap way to start and grow a stable.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

Steppe Stable and the Blood Tool discords are the best learning platforms for Zed Run.

The discussions and arguments in the discord group have really opened my eyes to the different strategies and ways to play Zed.

Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?

The blood tool is complete game changer in the way we breed at Newport Beach Stables.

Our strategy used to be breeding the lowest z numbers.

Overtime, and from the Blood Tool that has evolved to breeding the best base ability horses with the best base ability horses.

We can’t fully explain how the tool works, but only that we wouldn’t be where we are today without it.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Newport Stables

24 Months from today we see ZED as its own sporting league with customizable races.

We expect Zed to also have different NFT race-tracks that are sponsored by large companies.

Eventually, we could even see a race that has a higher purse than the Kentucky Derby!

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

We wish they built out their own blockchain network early on.

Polygon currently has issues which causes problems in Zed which they have no control over.

We are bullish long-term and with high growth products like Polygon & Zed this is par for the course.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

One secret about Zed is the double stable strategy.

We mentioned it earlier, but we really want new comers to pay attention to this trick.

By having females and males in separate stables, you will be able to save 54% on breeding fees which is a huge way to save money in breeding!

If you are not taking advantage of this trick, then you are just wasting money monthly.

Q – Any Last Comments?

Zed will be around for as long the technology we have has been around.

This game is meant to last over 1,000 years and is a great substitute for the horrible industry of horse racing currently.

Q – How Can People Follow Your Zed Journey Or Contact You?

People can find us on Twitter here!

You can even find us on TikTok here!

ON THE TRACK WITH 2 FOOLS & THEIR MOULAH

Over the weekend we reached out to 2 Fools & Their Moulah. They were kind enough to answer some questions and divulge their stable secrets!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Moulah Logo

Our stable name is 2 Fools & Their Moulah! You can go here to check out our stable.

We currently own around 300 horses! They’re spread across a few stables, but the bulk of them can be found here in this stable.

The stable name 2 Fools & Their Moulah is in tribute to our namesake horse Moulah Moulah.

To date (9/27/21), we have won over 705 races across all of our stables. In addition, we have placed second 508 times and third 468 times for a total of 1,681 races shown across all stables!

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

We first got involved in Zed early April of 2021.

We’re two brothers – Mike is a programmer and Vinnie is a professional gambler. Although, we really both have backgrounds in poker and dfs.

Zed was starting to become popular in those communities around that time. We bought our first horse Lodden Thinks because of the name and were hooked within a day.

We initially built our stable solely through secondary market purchases. Then during the Tera Drop we were lucky enough to purchase Moulah Moulah for less than $150!

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

Our proudest achievement is probably seeing the horses we’ve bred turn out to be great horses.

Now whether that be for us or a different stable, it still brings us the most pride and happiness to see our offspring succeed.

We are also quite proud of being invited to participate in the Digital Derby. You can find a video of that here: The Digital Derby – YouTube

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

We’re balanced between breeding, racing, and selling, but tend to focus slightly more on whatever we’re most passionate about or interested in at that particular time.

Right now, we’re obsessed with breeding.

We’re trying to discover the “secrets” of breeding, accumulate high fitness horses that are great breeders, and get their foals distributed to other players to enjoy.

The size of our stable provides us with added flexibility in breeding. This lets us experiment with some horse combinations that don’t often get matched up.

We sell a good chunk of our bred horses unraced. That way they can get the proper attention they deserve. Then we typically reinvest the proceeds into buying raced horses our models have identified as having high breeding potential. Often it’s our own bred horses we’re buying back after they’ve been raced!

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

We are constantly researching new breeding techniques and managing our stable. Due to this, we easily pour over 60 hours combined per week.

To be honest, we enjoy every second of it. We would spend even more time on the platform if we could!

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

Yacht Club Member

In terms of breeding, it’s Yacht Club Member.

We actually get together in-person to watch the griffin races of all of his offspring.

He has such a high hit-rate on great offspring that it’s exciting knowing each foal has a legit chance of becoming one of the best racers in the game!

Moulah Moulah

Although on the racing side, even after hundreds of races, we still get pure joy from watching Moulah Moulah run.

This horse is just an undeniable monster on the track. We were incredibly lucky to pick it up so early on in our Zed Run journey.

Other than both of those horses, Mike’s personal favorite horse is My Little Racer while Vinnie’s personal favorite is Trail Beyond.

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

There is so much we would tell a new stable owner.

Although, our main best piece of advice would be: explore all avenues of the game.

Like us, most of the other owners we’ve spoken with have had their passions change throughout their Zed journey, which is a great thing.

If there’s a content creator or stable owner that you like/respect, reach out to them and pick their brain. Zed folk LOVE talking about Zed.

Finally, read the Zed Run official guide, join the community discord, read all the pinned messages and start in #beginner-chat.

Q – Who Is Someone You Respect In The Zed Community And Why?

There are many people we respect the hell out of, way too many to list.

We would like to give this shoutout to SEANvsALL and TumTeezi. They dove head first into ZED, started streaming, built Zedbets, moved to an entirely new city for ZED, give away tons of horses, help everyone all the time, and were monumental in the success of The Digital Derby… we could go on and on.

They embody everything positive and amazing about the ZED community and their energy is a constant reminder that ZED is about having FUN!

Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?

We love the blood tool!

We honestly use it every single day, and would certainly buy it again.

The great thing about it is that it is constantly changing and improving based on the wants and feedback of the users. Danshan does a great job of customizing the product to fit the changes in the Zed eco-system while also maintaining the high quality of the product.

It is an absolute game changer.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

Kentucky Derby

We see ourselves at a bar/restaurant entering races on our phones, competing against the other patrons, and watching the races on the TV’s at the bar.

We see large, highly viewed pre-determined field Kentucky Derby-like race days with races covering various distances, classes, and some genesis-only races.

There will even be special races where the best racers at the time and the legends will all be taken out of the barn for all to see.

Each horse will eventually have a custom skin and be able to earn/keep their own sponsorship money. Most importantly, viewers will be able to bet on the races!

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

We’re big fans of the vision the Zed Run team seems to have for the game, so we would not want to change too much.

Overtime, we’ve learned to trust their judgement and intuition on what the platform needs or doesn’t need.

Although, we’d love it if genesis horses were more unique from one another in terms of appearance.

We hope this can be addressed at some point through something like a custom skin allocated to each specific genesis.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

If we can only share ONE secret, then we know exactly what to tell people.

Too many people are sleeping on the long-term value of male genesis horses! They are an absolute must have for any stable long-term. We suggest for everyone to purchase at least one.

Q – Any Last Comments?

ON THE TRACK WITH BALGOOD FARMS

This week we had the privilege of video chatting with Balgood Farms. On the chat, we got tons of juicy information we can’t wait to tell you about. Buckle up because this post is a meaty one!

Here is the interview!

Q – What Is Your Stable Name?

Balgood Farms Logo

Our stable name is Balgood Farms. You can find it here – stable.

The stable is co-owned, so we came up with the name as a combination of both our last names: Baltz and Hobgood

We currently own 38 horses. To date (9/23/21), we have won over 77 races. In addition, we have placed second 83 times and third 66 times for a total of 226 races shown.

The amount of horses we currently own is partly due to the down market. Typically we would sell more of our offspring, but for now we have decided to hang onto them and race them till the market recovers.

Q – When Did You Start In Zed?

Originally, both of us were big into NFTs from Topshot. Once that fizzled out, I (Baltz) kept a pulse on the NFT space incase I came across something of value.

Back in March, some prominent Topshot people started talking about Zed Run. There has always been apart of me that loved sports betting and horse betting in particular, so naturally I saw the uniqueness of the utility of the platform.

The idea of making money from investing, breeding and racing was like a light bulb moment. Quickly, I pitched Zed to my group of friends (we had a collective in on Topshot), and one of them wanted in (Hobgood).

We entered Zed Run in April of 2021 by investing together.

Early on we wanted to start with quality in our stable since we saw how important that was in Topshot. Our first purchase was a lightly raced Z3 Szabo Genesis who we analyzed correctly and turned out to be a solid horse (playing hunter).

From that horse we started learning more and more, picking up trends in the game and making additional investments. Over time, we were picking up more quality horses through Opensea. Our main priority in the beginning was trying to identify lightly raced horses with strong upside potential.

Q – What Is Your Proudest Achievement In ZED?

Our proudest achievement so far in Zed has to be breeding Bright and Early.

That horse is a top 1% racer using a combination of the Blood Tool and our own inferences.

That horse still makes us smile thinking about her.

Q – What Is Your Primary Focus In ZED? Breeding, Racing, or Selling?

Right now we have shifted to being a primarily breeding stable.

We have about 20 mares that we have identified as solid breeders. Our goal is to try to sell out most their offspring.

In general, we think there’s 3-4 steps down the line from a low Z to a mid teens Z that we can checkpoint along the way at different price points that are proven combos.

Although, at the moment, nothing is selling now, so we have continued to optimized our stable in the mean time.

We will probably not let go of this recent batch of offspring in the market downturn, so we’re trying out new racing strategies with all of them in the mean time. We typically try to breed, get a few races on their profile and sell.

This keeps us liquid while we are moving up and allows us not to get too attached. It also covers some risk because early races can be misleading. We didn’t sell Bob the Beginner after his Griffin after being offered ~5x which was a mistake.

That scarred us, so we sold Bright and Early after her Griffin for a 5x since she performed similarly in her Griffin.

Q – How Many Hours A Week Do You Dedicate To ZED?

Probably too much time if we are being honest.

Between my partner and I, we spend at least 40 hours. I (Baltz) spend 25+ hours, but my partner (Hobgood) has a newborn, so it can be hard to dedicate the necessary time.

Q – What Is Your Favorite Horse You Own And Why Do You Love It?

Jupiter Place

Our favorite horse is hands down Jupiter Place – a Z4 Genesis Szabo Female.

We bought her after three races very early on right when we were deciding to make a larger commitment to ZED.

Her and another similar horse had shown some promise, and we were hemming and hawing between the two. Fortunately we ended up being torn, so we asked one of our girlfriends at the time what name she liked better which is how we ended up with Jupiter Place!

Jupiter Place ended up being a top 1% racer and the other horse turned out to be glue (a donkey).

Q – What Advice Would You Give To Someone Starting A ZED Stable Now?

You are not too late to join Zed! We are still in the early stages of this platform.

Our advice would be to go with low Z value Exclusive Fillys with multiple families of blood in them to begin building a stable. This really is your best bet for breeding solid horses down the line.

Q – Who Is Someone In The ZED Community That You Respect And Try To Learn From?

Our top three go to people in the community are: DanShan, SoulsVanish, and Alhambren.

We highly suggest for any new players (or even those with experience) to find a group of people you trust and can learn from. We found ours, and they save us a lot of time and money in Zed Run.

Q – What Are Your Thoughts About The Blood Tool And Why Did You Buy it?

Initially, we just wanted to get a method to the madness.

We were just starting to pick up on patterns before we came across DanShan who we had run into in the general zed discord.

The turning point (when we bought in) was when we saw a mutual friend from sports betting in the discord. He is a super sharp guy, so it was surprising to see him in there. Quickly, we reached out to him, and he told us more about DanShan.

We studied up on some of Danshan’s articles that were sent to us and found out he is a super smart guy as well.

Shortly after that was when breeding opened up and Danshan created his tool.

We decided to pivot to a breeding stable with this new Blood Tool. We sold hunter and picked up some females that had ability to produce some of these combos and got in the blood chat.

Once we got there we met more intelligent people that loved talking theories and strategies. Some of the people include SoulsVanish, 2 Fools & Their Moulah and Alhambren who are all undeniably sharp.

At first we just tried to soak up as much as we could.

The group even helped us secure a Z1 breeder that popped up around the floor price on hawku. I ran the idea by Dan, Moulah, and Al, and they all agreed it was a worthy acquisition.

We reached out to the seller and offered a deal for some Artblocks and Ethereum. The seller accepted and now we have a Z1 to breed that we found with the Blood Tool!

We couldn’t be happier.

Q – Where Will ZED Be 24 Months From Today?

We were just talking about this today in the Blood Tool Discord how we would like to see it take a line of online poker and DFS.

It needs to cater to all skill levels. I think if there is a chance to “class up” and hit it big due to some combination of luck and skill it could experience similar type booms.

In addition, streaming with max 2 minute races could gain a lot of traction for Zed Run.

I think increased exposure could lead to increased sponsorships which could go to the extent of selling your horses to wear skins. (skins are already in the works).

In short, the platform will start to leverage more sponsorships and stables will become individually sponsored as well.

Q – If You Could Change One Thing About Zed What Would It Be And Why?

We would like to see odds reincorporated.

We understand why they removed odds, but still think it is better for the game in the long run.

In addition, we would also like to see some reversion to mean catering towards beginners and experienced players. Also for continuing to gain more exposure for the gambling sphere.

Another great feature would be a multisig type wallet to allow us to “hire” people to run our horses. Racing as you know is very time consuming and a talent. With breeding and sales, it can be a lot to keep up with. One of our friends @ElkinsRacingCo who is also into zed is a very good racer, and we have worked out situations where we send horses to him to race to either earn a profit or get them some volume. Splitting profits etc.

It works well when it’s a friend that we trust but would be great for expansion if zed was able to incorporate this into game play.

We learned recently that there is similar arrangements in the blood chat and there is definitely demand for it in community.

Q – What Is One Secret You Hate To Give Away But Will Tell Us About Your ZED Strategy?

Horse Parents Zed

Something that we learned along our breeding journey is that parent’s racing prowess doesn’t ensure good babies.

While you might think a natural successful horse would breed champions, it is not always the case.

Q – Any Last Comments?

Our main goal is to find a niche breeding affordable racers that perform above baselines and gain a reputation for that.
