Zed Run Tournaments

Welcome back to the Tribe! In this post we are going to discuss the best part of Zed Run currently, Zed Run Tournaments!

Nothing should be considered investment or financial advice. Enjoy the ride!

Zed Run

If you have not kept up with our latest series, we have recently dove into the NFT horse racing platform called Zed Run.

We started investigating this platform in mid 2021, and jumped in financially starting in Q3. We have a fair sized stable, and at this point hundreds of wins under our belt. Therefore, we have a pretty good handle on the platform and what people can expect from it.

If you have not heard of Zed and want to check it out, make sure to read our Zed Run review that can be found here!

Although for those that are familiar with the platform, you will be able to relate to this post when we say the best part of Zed recently has to be the on-going tournaments!

Zed Run Tournaments

Zed Run tournaments are what is currently giving life to the platform like never before.

Already there has been three tournaments each with $100,000 in total prizes to all who qualify, no matter your stable size or race history.

The three tournaments so far have been:

A tournament based on the best horses in the platform.

To qualify, horses needed to race a total of 30 times in their desired distance bracket. Of those 30 or more races, the average points that the horse got from the races were used to place it in the rankings for the cup.

If a horse got 1st then they received 89 points, 2nd got 55, 3rd 34, and so on.

If you want to learn more about this tournament, go here to find out everything you need to know about qualifying, brackets, point system and more.

The second tournament that Zed hosted was called the Pity cup.

This tournament was specifically designed to benefit horses that place 4th, just out of the three payment spots for a traditional race. Like the Fibonacci cup, horses needed to race in any race on the Zed platform to qualify. Points were awarded per race based on placement which was slightly different than the first tournament.

If you placed in 4th then you received 89 points, 5th or 3rd was awarded 55 points, 2nd or 6th got 21, and so on.

For this reason, the entire platform’s racing structure seemed to change over night as people started racing their donkeys in hopes of hitting it big!

The last tournament that is currently going on as of 12/5/21 is the second Fibonacci Cup.

This tournament is pretty much the exact same as the first, so we’ll move on.

Tournament Experience

While everyone’s tournament experience will be different, we want to talk about ours.

If you have not checked out our stable, it is a decent size. We typically have over 20 horses, 10 or so genesis horses, and plenty of class 1 racers. Therefore, we had a decent shot at just about every tournament so far.

In the first tournament, it seemed that everyone and their mother wanted to qualify. Therefore, the competition on the platform seemingly doubled over night as every horse came out of the barn. It was almost impossible to find a race without a monster in it, and if there wasn’t a monster, we were putting our monsters in it.

That tournament really kicked things off and probably told Zed, “Hey keep this up.”

We ended up getting horses into the quarters and semi-finals of the first Fibonacci cup, but unfortunately did not make it any further. Although, we had an awesome time just being involved at all.

For the Pity Cup, we surprisingly did extremely well. We had two horses that just recently found their best distances, and would place consistently 4th-2nd. For those reasons, we ended up getting two horses into the grand finals of the Pity Cup. One in bracket A, and one in bracket B. Unfortunately, the grand finals ended up being Z1’s running circles around the other pity horses. Still, we had an awesome time and won around $1,000 from the tourney.

Today, we are racing more than ever for the second Fibonacci cup. Currently, it is looking like we will have 5+ horses qualify, and we just breed another lot looking to sneak in 25 races before time expires.

Tournaments Overview

Again this is just our experience. We have a decent sized stable, and have put a good amount of money into our stable. So, it is only expected that we would get something out of it or at least be able to participate in these tournaments.

Now for most starter stables and beginners, they are probably still feeling left out. Although, do not worry because Zed has already said that they will continue to expand the tournament criteria to eventually reward horses that place in maybe 8th to qualify and so on.

The Zed team’s prerogative right now is to continue to bring utility to as many horses as possible, and yes that even means those Z173 pacers.

There was even a Youtube video of one of the co-founders Chris stating that they are using these current tournaments for feedback, Gauging user interaction, and looking to better understand the total effect they have on the platform.

We think that this is only the beginning and can’t wait to be involved with even more tournaments down the line!

Pity Tournament

Welcome back to the Tribe!

This is our eighth Zed Run Blog post! In this post we are going to go over our racing status, stable changes, and the Pity tournament!

Here is a quick run down of this post:

  • Racing update
  • Stable Changes
  • Pity Tournament

Nothing should be considered investment or financial advice. Enjoy the ride!

Zed Run Blog Post #8

Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!

Racing Update

We have won 200 races!

Our next goal is still the big 500. While we probably will not reach this mile stone before years end, we hope early in 2022 we will be able to accomplish it.

In addition, we have 209 second place finishes and 167 third place finishes!

200 stable wins

In full transparency, we actually stopped racing for about 2 weeks. This was due to the changes to the payouts and amounts required to enter races. During that period, it was much harder to find a decent race and it seemed there were issues with races populating certain distances.

After the reversion of these changes, the new update to the rake that Zed Run is taking from races down to zero, and the tournaments, we have returned to racing full time!

Most notably, we have found out that our horse “Anyone?” is quite a monster even in C1. We are quite pleased since we bought that Z3 Szabo unraced!

In addition to the Szabo crushing C1, our C3 horses Different Gravey and Major Speed have been running up to C1 and still performing quite well for the tournaments.

Stable Update

SanFran Horses

Our stable has had a few changes as well!

Currently we have 18 horses in our stable.

  • 9 genesis horses
  • 3 legendary horses
  • 4 exclusive horses
  • And 2 elite horses

To largest changes to our stable have been the three horses we bred in early December:

  • Golden Pony – strong mid distance runner
  • Not A Cat – flames a lot and seems to be a good sprinter
  • Out Of Coffee – Another strong sprinter, and has great parents, so we expect great things out of this horse

In addition, we sold one of our strong C1 racers – Welcome Home!

The guys over at SRS – Burgy reached out asking if we had any horses we were willing to sell. After some negotiation, they decided to purchase Welcome Home from us!

We wish them all the best with this awesome horse. Make sure to check out their Twitter here!

Pity Tournament

The last thing we want to talk about is the Pity tournament!

Zed recently ran its first ever tournament where horses had to actually place 4th in order to get the most points for qualification. More information about the tournament can be found here for those interested in the complete setup of the tournament – Zed community page.

Surprisingly, we had two horses that were up for the job!

So much so that we actually got a horse in the grand finals for bracket A AND for bracket BQ We were just as surprised as everyone else.

Sadly, our horses got smashed by a few Z1’s in the grand finals, but along the way we managed to get around $1,000 in tournament winnings. While this is not life changing cash, it still felt great and made us really appreciate the racing scene.

Our two horses that made it to the grand finals were:

  • More traditional – Our Z5 genesis Finney made it to the grand finals in bracket A!
  • Different Gravey – Our Z8 genesis Buterin made it to the grand finals in bracket B!

While we did not win tens of thousands, we still extremely enjoyed the tournament and the winnings.

We are excited to continue our luck into the Fib 2.0 tournament! In the first Fib tournament, we had horses make it to quarters and semi-finals as well, so we have high hopes!

Zed Run Blog Post 8

Thanks for reading our eighth Zed Run Blog post!

While there has been a good amount of FUD about Zed Run lately, we are extremely optimistic about the future of the platform!

Zed Run Ready

Welcome back to the Tribe! In this post we are going to talk about the hypothetical scenario where Zed Run goes main stream. What will that look like, is Zed Run ready, and how can they prepare for such a move?

Nothing should be considered investment or financial advice. Enjoy the ride!

Is Zed Run Ready

Ready to play? yes, ready for the mass market? Well that might be another question all together.

What do we mean when we say “mass market” anyways? Do we mean that Zed Run is a common house hold term, or do we just simply mean popular throughout the blockchain industry?

Well, we like to think it is a mix.

Mass market to us means somewhere over 1-10 million users world wide, the platform holds a stable reputation in the blockchain and gambling industry, as well as it starting to break into the gaming industry as a clear example on how to monetize NFTs.

Currently, Zed has close to a hundred thousands users, although active users is still in the tens of thousands per week at this point. This also varies greatly on the status of the platform.

During the recent Zed Run official tournament, there were many more active users racing, breeding, and over all participating across the platform.

Here is a Tweet showing the change in racers, horses, and distinct stables thanks to a Zed Run community member bg.

As we can see from the Tweet above, the number of users is drastically changing from before after the tournament.

What we can conclude from these numbers is that people want more.

More racing, more utility, and more purpose for the platform. The tournament served to give people a taste of what that might look like. Given the right tools, users will flood the platform, and Zed Run will be able to hit that “mass market” point.

Mass Market

Although, we need to reach back to the original question of – are they ready?

From the utility stand point, there can be a strong argument that the answer is no.

Unfortunately, the answers do not get any better when you take a look at the status of the platform (staying functional), the amount of races available on the platform (in terms of distances and classes), and the actual team behind the platform.

Lets break these down more to discuss.

Platform Status

It is no secret that the platform, still in BETA, is currently struggling to keep up with the stress of changes, updates, and users.

Personally, we have experienced several bugs alone in the past few months since we have been on the platform.

While the support team is fantastic in addressing these issues, that is only because the amount of requests are still minor compared to a platform responding to thousands per day – aka mass market issues.

We can take a look back at 2016 and 2017 for an example. When Coinbase and Binance first started to reach mass market adoption and crypto was becoming more main stream there were a ton of issues that came with it. Both platforms struggled severely when the influx of users hit mass market.

Here is what it looked like:

  • Users were white listed and waited months to simply get an account
  • Stuck funds took weeks to address making investors and users leave the platforms daily
  • Compliance issues scaled to global efforts and started to cost the platforms millions (we know from personal contacts)
  • Internal stress created more problems than solutions for the teams trying to help users
  • Platform failures were constant and withdraw freezes were common due to misappropriated funds and backend issues

These are issues that some of the most well funded and secure platforms experienced WITH great development teams behind them.

Races Available

Another debatable issue is the amount of races available.

Not specifically just any race, but the right races for the right horses, in the right classes.

Just this past week after the official Zed Run tournament, we have completely stopped racing due to the lack of right races.

Not to mentioned the amount of time stable owners who are racing need to allocate to the platform just to make sure they can secure these races.

We don’t want to beat this dead horse, since we already did in another post, and Zed has publicly acknowledged the problem and are working on a fix.

To reiterate our other post, the overhaul could use:

  • More segregation among horses
  • Separate tracks all together for more experienced stables and newer ones
  • More available races per distance and per price point

These are just a start to prepare Zed for those next steps.

Zed Team

The last thing to discuss is the Zed team behind everything.

While they are doing a terrific job with their current resources, the main idea is to expand – and quickly. By expand, we mean team members.

Already they are 80+ team members strong, and constantly on the look out for new talent to come on-board.

Specifically, they will need to grow out their development and support teams in order to potentially deal with hundreds or thousands of users in the coming years.

The amount of email requests, bug fixes, and suggestions to consider from all of those users will ultimately take a small village to deal with.

A lot of companies simply look to out source these issues, but we think an internal solution is just as good if not better.

Creating global offices in the coming years, might help to alleviate some of the stress and issues of being a 24/7 platform!

Is Zed Ready Post

Thanks for reading this post on Is Zed Run ready for mass market and what it might look like!

We have faith in the team and product, this post (as always) is more just for fun and discussion’s sake.

Cheers

Zed Run Status

Welcome back to the Tribe! In this post we are going to dive straight into some of the largest burdening issues on the Zed Run platform. In this post we take a look at the Zed Run status in terms of racing.

Nothing should be considered investment or financial advice. Enjoy the ride!

Zed Run Status

While it’s easy to point out failures or problems, we always want to take a multiple step approach to any review or status update.

Most importantly, we need to always acknowledge the successes of any project before digging into some of the shadows behind the scenes.

First of all, lets go over some of the huge accomplishments that the Zed team has recently undertaken:

  1. Hosted the first ever successful Zed Run official Tournament – We would consider this a huge success for the platform.
  2. The platform has successfully tried to implement several features that the community asked for showing that they are receptive to their investors and users.
  3. There have been additional partnerships and special events going on showing the increasing interest form outside third parties looking to get in on the action.
  4. The VHS team behind the platform has continued to grow and are currently looking for a bunch of new people to join the team which is always exciting. We are sure once these shoes are filled, there will be more improvements and changes happening faster.
  5.  Finally, we have personally had great experiences with the Zed Run support team showing again that their users are a prime focus.

Those are probably our biggest PROs right now for the platform. Each of these bullet points deserve a round of applause so please keep up the great work!

Looking to the Cracks

Unfortunately, this post has more to it than just shiny accolades.

Therefore, lets kick things off with the blaring issue at hand that has made us stop using the platform as much – the racing elo system.

Zed Run Racing

We want to stress that everything we say should be taken as constructive rather than critically.

Although, we have recently seen a number of stables completely stop racing with our stable being one in particular.

Why would stables just stop racing their horses?

Well, simply due to the amount of egregious competition on the track.

For instance, we have a class 3 horse called Different Gravey that flames around 80% of the time in the 1000m and has a racing strength of around 84%-85% thanks to the Zed tools. This horse is a winner and monster at the sprint.

EVEN with him we can not enter most class 3 races regardless of the prize pool. Why? Because of the amount of over competition currently on the track.

There are horses racing all day that have 100% flames over hundreds of races, and have won thousands and thousands of Ethereum in profit.

It seems unfeasible that out of all our horses, it is not advantageous for us to race any of them. Mind everyone, that we did not skimp on investing in the platform or our stable. In total, our stable cost easily over $100 thousand with a majority of our horses being genesis proven racers with over 10% win rates.

We can’t imagine the stress that smaller stables are currently experiencing and those that looked to cash-flow positive with their investment in Zed Run.

Zed Run Market

A majority of this stress is also stemming from the open market.

The prices of horses have fallen through the floor with almost all horses value dropping substantially in the past 2 months. While Ethereum is surging, it does not quite compensate because the breeding fees, and mating fees have scaled similarly causing issues there as well.

Worse than that, the availably of people looking to breed has fallen off due to the decreased utility of horses currently and overall worsening cash flow valuation.

Lets look at the full picture:

  • Probably around 90%-95% of horses can no longer racer profitably in any class
  • It is no longer profitable to breed and sell offspring at reasonable levels for most bloodlines
  • In addition, certain bloodlines like Szabos can barely sell out in Stud even at the minimum with decent positive win-rates.
  • Last of all, the platform is still riddled with bugs and issues decreasing user interaction and sentiment

These facts do not paint a pretty picture.

What Can Be Done?

This is the million dollar question right?

Sadly, we do not have the experience to fully advise on solutions, but we will still try. Here is our take on the elo system.

Elo System

Zed needs to seriously refer to other popular games and gambling systems about how they manage their elo systems better.

Being a semi-professional gamer at one point, we’ve seen many games struggle with this, but it is even more important with money is involved.

One thing is for sure, new stables should NEVER be faced with proven horses like POODL to the Moon or LBJ Goat against their $200 horse looking to just test out the platform. It does not make sense on any level of gambling or gaming.

In fact, it is quite unacceptable to have a platform that pairs up these kinds of horses and stables. It should not even be possible.

Reflecting on our gaming days, there was no way to basically end up playing against a pro in a lower elo game accept for possibly on NORMAL or UNRANKED matches.

In this scenario the normal and unranked games would correlate to the free races.

Clearly, this needs to be address or eventually stables like ourselves will just stop racing. We will breed and stud, but never touch the track. It doesn’t make sense to race our horses when we know they will more than likely lose or just continually come in fourth or third at best.

Proposed changes

The best system we can think of is a mix of these things below:

  • There needs to be a clear segregation of stronger and proven stables from the newer stables in general. Not fully, but there should be races that only stables with a number of wins or total winnings can enter.
  • There also needs to be a better individual horse ranking system that involves winnings and not just win rate. Clearly, the win rate system can be abused, so a mixed elo system that limits available races based on winnings and win rate will server to section off horses that should never be paired up with weaker or cheap horses.
  • Finally, there needs to be a segmented track. No more of these races from “different cities” or colored tracks. There needs to be completely different areas where stables can go to race horses that you can not be mixed with other tracks or competition. For instance, there might be a section of the site that only allows genesis horses, or a section that only stables with over 500 wins can enter. This will serve to remove competition as well from the general mass and alleviate some of this pressure.
Zed Run Status Post

This post is getting a bit heavy, so we are going to end it here. We will continue to revisit this and obviously keep the community updated on our opinions and status of racing. Overall, the Zed Run ecosystem still has all the potential it had months ago and more. These are just growing pains that will hopefully be solved sooner than later.

The team has already acknowledged these problems and are working on fixes. We are just taking the time to cover and discuss them!

Cheers

Zed Run Blog Posts

Welcome back to the Tribe!

This is our seventh Zed Run Blog post! In this post we are going to quickly cover our stable’s progress, the Zed tournament, and the dive straight into some of the biggest issues Zed is currently encountering.

Here is a quick run down of this post:

  • Racing update
  • Tournament update
  • Zed Issues

Nothing should be considered investment or financial advice. Enjoy the ride!

Zed Run Blog Post #7

Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!

Racing Update

We have won 135 races so far! Our next big goal will be 500 wins.

In addition, we have 154 second place finishes and 115 third place finishes!

SanFran Stable

It has been a wild few weeks racing on the Zed platform.

In all, we’ve had a decent amount of luck on the track, but lately that luck has seemed to taper off as we have been racing less and less.

The surge in racing really stemmed from trying to get a few of our horses into the tournament. It was a ton of fun, but overall the best part of the tournament was how much we learned. We learned so much in such a short amount of time about racing, our stable, and how to prepare for a tournament!

Tournament Update

From our first official Zed Run tournament, we learned several things.

First of all, it is incredibly important to prepare your stable for the tournament.

Many of the top stables took the early parts of October to down class their best horses in order to get some early free wins as they progressed through the classes. This method seemed to work in general for most people, and really would have been the difference in some of our horses making it or not.

Overall, we just enjoyed the process of it all. There were massive upsets in the tournament which always makes things fun, and in the end we are proud of some of our friends that performed so well in the tournament like Alhambren Bloodstock and Danshan. In addition, 2 Fools and Their Moulah and Arbitrage Racing had strong performances reminding us how proud we are to know them!

Moving forward, we are going to try harder to qualify for the next tournament by planning ahead!

Zed Run Issues

Sadly, that is the last of the fun news.

Currently, there are some strong issues the platform is facing that could potentially make or break it for most people.

Before we talk about those, we do want to mention our appreciation for the Zed Run support team’s hard work lately. We have had to work with them on a number of issues, and every time a solution is quick and effective. We appreciate their efforts and diligence.

Although, we need to look at the shadows currently growing bigger on the racing Giant. Here are some of the largest issues we currently have with the platform:

  • Ease of classing

There needs to be a stronger form of retaining class for a horse. We are not sure of a solution, but a horse should have to prove something before it changes classes. This could be a series of races, auto entry, or something similar. However this looks, it really needs to be implemented instead of the current strategy. There are too many extremely strong horses just running around in the lower classes, making racing unprofitable for too many stables to retain the masses.

  • Removal of low paying races

Most recently, the low end races in class 1 and class 2 have been completely removed. Specifically, there are only $10 races in class 1 leading to some intense competition at even the lowest mark. So much so that we have just stopped racing at this point all of our class 1 horses. Our class 3 horses and class 2 can still compete, but even there seems to be increased competition. While competition in general is not a bad thing, this seems to dynamically change the game once again drastically effecting the profitability of stables.

  • Platform issues

While we appreciate the diligence of the support team, the on-going issues are quite troublesome. At this stage in the game, there should be some more permanent fixes becoming implemented or fail safes. We understand the process of development, and have high respect for the team behind the project. But with greatness, comes responsibility. That is just the cost of creating an idea and platform with so much potential – high expectations. These expectations are not meant to derail but to propel. The community needs to continue to push for better out of love for the platform that they have invested in.

Welcome back to the Tribe!

Today we want to update everyone on the Zed Run official tournament!

Here is what we are going to discuss:

  • Zed Run official tournament
  • Qualifying for quarter finals, semi finals, finals, and grand finals
  • Tournament prizes

Nothing should be considered investment or financial advice. Enjoy the ride!

Zed Run Tournament

The hottest news in the Zed Run space is the recent tournament that the platform has launched!

The tournament is for all distances, all horses, and will ultimately end up with only a hand full of winners for huge cash prizes.

The first ever ZED RUN tournament will start with a two week period called the qualifiers starting on October 15, 2021.

The best showing horses for all distances over the period will qualify for the tournament.

The cool thing about this tournament is that all races will qualify you no matter if they are a paid race or a free race. Every race counts towards qualification.

In addition, Zed Run has changed free races to no longer have a prize pool.

The previous rewards for winning a free race will now go towards the official tournament prize pools!

Zed Run Race

Qualifying For Quarter Finals

The tournament is based on a leaderboard that is broken down by the three sets of distances over 30 races that are run in the allotted time from October 15 to October 30.

Here are the sets of distances a horse can qualify in:

  • Sprinter category: 1000M, 1200M, 1400M
  • Mid Runner category: 1600M, 1800M, 2000M
  • Marathoner: 2200M, 2400M, 2600M

It is important to note that a horse will only qualify for ONE set of distances that it ranks highest in. A single horse will not qualify in more than one distance set.

After October 30th, the top 192 horses in each distance set will be chosen. In total, 576 horses will be selected across the three sets of distances.

The way the horses will be selected is by their show rate on the first 30 races run in between October 15th and October 30, no matter the distance run!

Horses will rank in the distance set they raced most in.

For example, if a horse runs 15 races in 2000M, 5 in 1000M, 5 in 2200M, and 5 in 1800M here is how it will break down:

  • This horse will be placed in the Mid Runner category since it ran a total of 20 races (out of the first 30).
  • The races for the 1000M and the 2200M will still be counted in its average for show rate
  • If the horse places in the top 192, then it will be selected to compete in the Mid Runner Category

Quarter Finals

Afterward for the quarter finals, the top 192 horses in each set of distances will be given additional races to run in their respective distances.

  • Sprinters will run at 1200M
  • Mid tier at 1800M
  • Distance at 2400M

The cool thing about these races is that only the top 3 of each race will continue on in the tournament. In addition, each race will be grouped by class and horse skill.

For instance, the top horses will race against each other in class 1, while the same happens in class 2, 3, 4, and 5.

This will happen for all the sets of distances to make for more competitive and better races.

After the quarter finals, 48 horses in total will progress to the Semi finals for each set 0f distances or 144 horses in total.

Semi Finals

The semi finals will consist of 12 races across all sets of distances.

This will be the first part of the tournament where horses are NOT separated by class or ability.

For the semi finals, horses will be randomly placed in races (still in their preferred set of distances).

For instance, a class 5 1800m runner could be placed against a class 1 1800m runner in this part of the tournament.

Each distance set will have 4 races for the horses to run. The top 3 horses from each race will progress to the Finals

This means that only 12 horses from each distance set will be in the finals!

Run Finals

In the finals, there will be 36 horses in total left over.

  • 12 horses in the sprinter category
  • 12 horses in the mid tier
  • and 12 horses in the marathon runner category

This is where things heat up since theses are the tip top horses from all distances and all classes.

There will only be ONE race run per distance set, and the top 4 horses will advance to the grand finals from each race.

Zed Grand Finals

Once we have our 12 BEST horses in all of Zed, it will be time to let those horses go head to head. This will be the first part of the tournament where the top horses will directly compete across all distance sets.

Here is how the grand finals will play out:

  • First race: 1000M
  • Second race: 1400M
  • Third race: 1600M
  • Fourth race: 2000M
  • Fifth race: 2200M
  • Sixth race: 2600M

In addition, the 12 horses racing in the grand final will be given points per race that will contribute to see who is the best in the business! Here is how the points will be given out:

  • 1024 points for first
  • 512 points for second
  • 256 points for third
  • 128 points for fourth
  • 64 points for fifth
  • 32 points for sixth
  • 16 points for seventh
  • 8 points for eighth
  • 4 points for ninth
  • 2 points for tenth
  • 1 points for eleventh
  • 0 points for twelfth

The winner will be determined by the amount of points each horse accumulates over the 6 races!

Zed Tournament Prize

Tournament Price

But what about the prizes right? Here is how the prize structure will break down:

  • 13% will be given out in the grand final amongst the 12 horses
  • 19% will be given out in the finals amongst the 36 horses
  • 23% will be given out in the semi finals amongst the 144 horses
  • 45% will be given out in the quarter finals amongst the 576 horses

In addition, here is how the prizes will be given out:

  • First place finishes will get 60%
  • Second place finishes will get 25%
  • Third place finishes will get 15%

Welcome back to the Tribe!

This is our sixth Zed Run Blog post! In this one we want to talk a bit more informally about our opinions of Zed Run right now.

Here is a quick run down of this post:

  • Giveaway update
  • Racing update
  • Our Zed Run Opinions

Zed Run Blog Post #6

Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!

Giveaway Update

Finally, our MAIN give away has concluded.

We tried to give as many people a chance to enter as possible, but sadly not everyone can get lucky and win the prize.

For our giveaway we had over 200 emails, and we had 25+ people with over 50 entries each.

personally, we learned a lot from doing our first giveaway. The main thing is that choosing a winner was EXTREMELY hard.

Not that it was hard to click “select a winner”, but that it was hard for us to only have one horse to give away. We would give everyone a horse that entered if we could…

Anyways, we have selected a winner for the giveaway!

That person is: Ranch Hand Stable!

We are very excited to give them our Z7 legendary Finney that will come from two of our BEST horses in our stable.

We wish them the best of luck with this horse and in their Zed Run journey.

Stay tuned though because we may do another giveaway near the years!

Racing Update

We have won 84 races so far! We are coming very close to our 100 win goal by years end which is extremely exciting.

In addition, we have 99 second place finishes and 68 third place finishes!

84 wins

While we were progressing faster earlier in the week, racing has become much more competitive in the last few days thanks to the official Zed Run tournament.

Not competitive in the idea of not being able to win, but competitive in the sense of finding the right races.

For the past 2 days it has been almost impossible to get a decent 2200M or 2000M race in class 1 that isn’t over $20.

While we could race the expensive races, we like to stick to the $5 and $10 races. This is simply because we can track profit much easier that way.

Although, we have found a very suitable down classing method for a few of our horses that hover around class 3 which helps consistently bring in more profit and wins over time.

Zed Run Opinions

For the last part of this post, we just want to openly discuss Zed, how we feel about the platform, and some opinions we’ve recently developed.

The first thing we want to cover is racing.

Zed Run Races

While we have finally started to get a handle on racing, it really is difficult to get used to it. Not to mention the amount of money you have to put into a horse, races, and time just to learn how to do it.

We are finally profiting daily, but it really is a struggle even with decent horses to find the right races.

Not to mention constantly monitoring your horse’s stamina and making sure they are staying in the right class.

It really is a skill that takes 500-1000+ races to develop.

Not only that, but most people probably do not have the money to put into racing or the time to fully understand it.

We feel like Zed needs to do something to help on-board people easier in the future. Maybe the free races without rewards should stay to help with horse discovery or racing strategy development down the line.

Zed Run Community

As always, the community has been extremely positive.

While the discord has been a toilet bowl on days when the platform is down, for the most part it is still filled with people trying to learn and contribute.

Not to mention the amount of content creators is growing and expanding weekly.

One thing the community should do is start to create more educational resources. Maybe even someone should build a racing and breeding course?

It still feels like a lot of the top tier knowledge is kept out of reach or simply still unknown to many people.

NFT Horse

The last thing we want to discuss is NFT horse price.

It is worry-some to see a lot of the price floors start to drop.

Basically in the past month, almost every genesis price floor has halved with some horses being sold even lower than that.

When we started, a Z3 gen Szabo unraced was around 3-4 eth and some people are buying them for under 2 which seems trouble some.

In addition, it seems to be harder to stud out horses that are not pulling over a 10% win rate.

While this is concerning, it also shows market development. As the platform continues to grow, certain horses will become essentially worthless to the market.

In addition, as people continue to educate themselves more, there will be less people buying crappy horses or studding horrible ponies.

In all, we feel there needs to be a better placement for the “bad horses”.

We are not sure how to really fix this, but it would be nice to see Zed put some effort in this department moving forward before a handful of horses just become meaningless NFTs.

Welcome back to the Tribe!

This is our fifth Zed Run Blog post! Time flies when you’re having fun.

In the past week we have taken advantage of the stamina changes to race our horses a lot! We’ve learned so much in just the past week that we can’t wait to share with you.

Here is a quick run down of this post:

Zed Run Blog Post #5

Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!

Stable Update

While we were making a bunch of purchases, we have recently slowed down. Not due to lack of belief in the project, but simply because we reached our limit that we wanted to put into Zed!

We have also given away 3-4 horses. Those horses would be in our stable, but we promised to do this when we started.

These horses helped bring 4 new people into the Zed eco-system! We just thought of it as giving back to the community that was so welcoming to us when we started!

Giveaway Update

Speaking of giving away horses…

Our giveaway is still live for those still wanting to enter for a free legendary Z7 Finney!

You can go here to enter!

The giveaway ends on the 14th of October, but the winner will have to wait a week or two to receive their horse.

Early in October we went to stud our Nak Z2 to give a horse to someone that we mentioned above and something went wrong.

Coincidentally, that was the same day breeding was messed up on Zed. Out Nak never showed in the stud farm that night.

Frustrated, we went to sleep for the night and woke up to our horse completely studded out at the minimum to random people.

This made us have to postpone giving a new user a horse, and push back our giveaway slightly. Not the cut off date, but the actual date where we give the horse to the winner.

We hope people will understand as we are just trying to help the community out and do our part after all.

Racing Update

We have won 75 races!! In addition we have 90 second place finishes and 56 third place finishes!

75 wins!

Clearly, we have been busy racing to go from 40 wins to 75 in only a few days!

There are a bunch of things we want to cover with racing that we have learned. So the rest of this post is really just going to be a racing blog/overview.

Here is what we want to cover:

  • Our stable racing strength
  • Mistakes we made racing early on
  • Our favorite horse to race

Racing Strength

Ironically, we never planned to race in our stable.

When we broke into Zed, we mainly bought horses with good stats to stud and breed out. It was never our intention to race ironically.

Although, we have found that some of our horses are decently strong racers!

Most notably are Idol Meaning (Z2 Gen Nak) and More Traditional (Z5 Gen Finney).

These two horses can each hold their own at different distances in class 1 which is impressive.

Idol Meaning goes even at 1600m with most horses, pulling a decent amount of flame. Although, we found out that he is even better at 2000m this week. Therefore, we have fully switched to racing him there which has proved much more consistent over all producing more wins.

More Traditional had the same problem. We got him with a record on the 1600m distance, but soon found that he excelled at the 2200m distance. He has won a good amount of races and stands up to some of the toughest horses in C1 thus far.

We are very pleased overall with our stable since racing really was an after thought!

In addition, the most recent add on to our team Anyone? has proven to be a great 1600m racer.

He flamed all the way till C1 and then we threw him into a tough C1 race to test his limits.

Sadly, we did find his limits in C1, but he will stud out for a great price moving forward thanks to his record thus far.

Racing Mistakes

We want to take a minute and review some of our mistakes.

While success and winning is great, we have definitely made plenty of “oops” moments along the way.

In particular, we made the mistake of racing all of our horses straight to C1 thinking they could handle it.

In the past week alone we realized how horrible this idea was and quickly had to forgo some profit to fix it.

One horse in particular, Different Gravey, we had to class back all the way to C3 to be profitable.

Favorite Horse

Our favorite horse is kind of a tie between two.

The first is More Traditional. He is just a strong consistent horse even in class 1.

Really there isn’t much to this horse. You just sign him up and hope he gets in top 3 (which he does over 40% of the time).

The second horse is Major Speed.

This horse is just fun because it races in class 3 at 1200m. Then classes down in class 2 at 2200m almost perfectly.

Really it is just front to back with this horse which makes him super easy to manage.

Social Growth

Our Twitter has continued to grow into October which is awesome!

We have surpassed our goal of 500 followers!

In addition, our email subscriptions on the site has more than doubled in the past month as well!

Zed Run Blog Post #4

Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!

Stable Update

anyone?

Although we sold one horse, we already purchased another!

  1. We welcome our most recent acquisition Anyone?, a Z3 Szabo Colt! We have already started breeding this horse with pretty good success in the stud farm! Honestly, we are a little nervous to race it, but we probably will at some point.
  2. We sold our second offspring Bedtime that was a Z12 exclusive Buterin colt. It actually turned out to be a pretty good horse! We listed it on Opensea just to see if there were any takers and what do you know! Someone just had to have it.
  3. We are also still selling our horse Fire Style! Click here if you are interested in him.

We will be studding out our Szabos we got this week! Be on the look out for Anyone? and Little Choosey in the stud farm soon!

Giveaway Update

Our giveaway is still live for those still wanting to enter for a free legendary Z7 Finney!

You can go here to enter!

This giveaway will continue through October. There have been some breeding issues on the platform recently, but we will make sure to get the winner gets the horse we promised regardless of the Zed bugs!

Racing Update

We have won our first 41 races, with 55 second place finishes and 25 third place finishes!

Racing Update

Racing has been a constant learning experience, but we are slowly starting to get around the track.

Our win rate has dropped a little bit as we continue to race new horses and experiment on distance. In addition, we oddly got a huge amount of second place finishes. If there is one thing we want to work on, it’s changing those second place finishes into first place ones!

What we have noticed so far is that it is VERY important to be the last or next to last horse to enter a race. Several times we will research a race, enter as the top contender, and a stronger horse will enter after us in the last spot available. Not sure if this is a bot doing this, or just bad luck. Either way, the new strategy for us is to enter last or next to last to try and prevent this!

Our goal is still to get to at least 100 wins before the end of the year. Realistically, we should be able to accomplish this within the next couple of weeks, but there has been some platform issues that are keeping us from racing that we will discuss at the end.

Our First Tournament

We finished up our first tournament the Jockey Club Classic!

We would like to thank our friend over at MJ Stables for being such an awesome team captain. He picked up our horse Blue Fire for his team!

The tournament was a success in the fact that everyone who participated had a good time doing so. We personally learned a lot this go around. If we were to do it over again, we would definitely do things differently. For instance, Blue Fire was not the best horse for the tournament.

Blue Fire is a class 1 u-shaped horse which really does not bode well for tournaments. In tournaments, you want to enter your most consistent high placing horse. There were 9 races counted towards the tournament over the weekend. As you can guess, Blue Fire was all over the place.

While still a strong horse, we would have entered a horse that is in a lower class in order to capitalize on easy wins. While we did not preform our best, we still enjoyed the experience and have plenty to take away for next tournament!

Social Growth

Our Twitter has continued to grow into October which is awesome!

We are close to 500 followers which puts us in line to accomplish our goal of 1,000 followers by years end!

NASCAR Drop

There is tons of talk around the community about the recent NASCAR pass drop that the Zed Run team did.

While there are a ton of opinions and ideas, the main point should be clear to the Zed team.

Put your users first.

It seems that this might be forgotten over at HQ, but they need to remember this for the success of the platform. The main anger stems from people simply buying these passes in bulk to flip, sell, or simply just to hold preventing the actual users from obtaining them.

Zed needs to start to use their community more for these kinds of things, or risk losing people in the masses.

Either way, the event and passes themselves are exciting to see since the platform will gain more features down the line involving them.

Zed Run Bugs

The other thing to discuss are the constant bugs on the platform.

While it is in BETA, there are a large number of bugs to consider. Just these past two weeks we have encountered several:

  • Horses not showing up in stud farm, regardless of time or filtering
  • Horses not being able to stud out due to issues in the timer
  • A horse didn’t enter the stud farm for hours, and then randomly went in over night causing us to lose our offspring essentially. Not to mention, these were offspring that we were going to GIVEAWAY to people that are new to Zed…
  • Obviously racing issues (but that is world-wide for the entire platform and community)

We understand that things take a while to fix and the the platform is going through growing pains.

Although, they need to focus on this stuff.

Not only that, but they need to acknowledge their mistakes to the community, and be more open about development. We are all here to support the team and the platform, but it really is hard when they ignore the users and do not address obvious issues. This needs to change for the survival of the platform.

Zed Run Blog Post #3

Here is an update for the Sanfrancisco Tribe Zed Run journey!

Stable Update

Rosebery Affair

  1. We welcome our most recent acquisition Rosebery Affair, a Z5 Finney stallion! We ultimately plan to breed this horse, but first we will take some time to race it just to see if it has potential.
  2. The next horses that we welcome into our stable is Fire Style, a Z12 exclusive Buterin that is the offspring of Blue Fire and Different Gravey. It has shown some promise, but we will wait to see how it performs long-term. We are planning to sell the offspring, so you can pick this one up here if you would like.
  3. The last addition to our stable is Bedtime, a Z12 exclusive Buterin colt that is the offspring of Blue Fire and Major Speed! Again we will race this offspring some, but ultimately plan to sell it. If you are interested, you can find Bedtime here!

We are very excited to continue to see our stable grow!

As we grow, we are still trying to figure out what we like best on the platform. Only time will tell, but we are going to continue to try our hand at everything for now.

Giveaway Update

Our giveaway is still live for those still wanting to enter for a free legendary Z7 Finney!

You can go here to enter! If you go through our Tweets, we have already sent out the secret phrase as well for 25+ extra entries.

Make sure to keep up with our Twitter if you want to be included in all of the giveaway secrets and extra entries!

Racing Update

We have won our first 32 races, with 43 second place finishes and 19 third place finishes!

stable update 3

We are very proud of our success in the racing scene.

Our win rate has dropped some as we experiment with some new distances on a few horses, race offspring, and race the new horse to our stable!

Slowly we are finding out where our horses race best. It really is hard getting the hang of racing, but we are going to stick with it for a while!

Our goal is to get 100 wins before the end of the year, but we are fairly sure we will pass that!

We’ve Entered Into Our First Tournament!

The tournament we have entered in is the Jockey Club Classic!

We are extremely excited to be included in this. Luckily, our friend over at MJ Stables picked up our horse Blue Fire on his team!

To be completely honest, we had no idea what to expect when we entered. Although, we are more than happy just to be along for the ride this tournament for the experience.

Studding Out Horses

While we are still figuring out this breeding thing, we are happy to be able to stud out some of our top horses.

Most notably, we have Welcome Home, More Traditional, and the new Z4 Szabo Little Choosey all in the stud farm.

We are still experimenting with good market pricing for the horses, but overall we think they will all make great breeders so go check them out for us!

Social Growth

Our Twitter has continued to grow throughout the month of September!

We just broke 400 followers, and we are pushing to break 1000 by the end of the year!

We appreciate every single person that is following our journey! Thank you all so so much.
